2023 history – On December 10, 2023, GWM Malaysia, in partnership with YLH Autoworld Sdn Bhd, opened its first 4S service center in East Malaysia located in Kuching, marking a significant expansion of its dealer network and commitment to providing high-quality products and services to the region.

HISTORY OF YU LEE HONG
1970
Originally, we started as Yu Lee Motors Trading Company, a sundry shop and fish trawling business in Kuching.
1980
With sufficient financial reserves and realizing the growing demand of automobile market in Kuching, Yu Lee Motors ventured into the motor vehicles industry.
1982
In Mid 1982, Yu Lee Hong Motors Trading Company (Yu Lee Hong Motors) was formed by the late Mr. Hong Thian Huat for the purpose of acquiring a shoplot with 1,200 sq feet area consisting a small office cum vehicle showroom at No.10, Lot 6675, Bangunan Dirgahayu, Jalan Batu Lintang, Kuching. The company has since begun to repute its own identity in the Automobile industry.
During the same year, through its wholly owned subsidiary Asy Motors (Bumiputra Status), Yu Lee Hong Motors was appointed as a dealer and tendering agent for the marketing and sales of Nissan vehicles (both in passenger and commercial vehicles).
1983
Yu Lee Hong Motors was marketing and selling Toyota vehicles (whereby NBT Toyota marketed only passenger cars at that time and later taken up by UMW Toyota) together with its associated Company, Jayadil Automobile Sdn Bhd.
In the same year, through its another associated Company, Wisma Motokar Sdn Bhd (Bumiputra Status), the Company was also marketing, distributing and acting as tendering agent for Honda passenger cars of both local Centrally Knock Down (CKD) and direct imported Completely Build Unit (CBU) models.
1986
Yu Lee Hong Motors was restructured and incorporated in accordance with the Company’s Act (1965) of Malaysia as Yu Lee Hong Motors Sendirian Berhad (“YLH Motors”).
1994
On the 15th August 1994, YLH Motors increased its paid up capital to RM830,000.00 with an authorised capital of RM1.0m.
1996
YLH Motors was awarded 3S (Sales, Service, Spare parts) Dealership for Audi and Peugeot in Sarawak for sales, spare parts and service. In the same year, YLH Motors was appointed as the Used Cars dealer by Edaran Otomobile Nasional Bhd (EON) in May and Spanco Sdn Bhd in November.
1997
In March 1997, with its impressive performance for Peugeot, it was awarded by MBF Automobile for Jeep sport utility vehicle dealership in Sarawak.
1998
With its aggressive management and sales team, YLH Motors has successfully diversified its operation into finance and credit, properties, engineering, marketing, general trading, plantation, fisheries and insurance industries and its holding company known as Yu Lee Hong Holdings Sdn Bhd was formed then. Today, it has a total of nine companies under its wings, YLH Motors being one of them.
In year end of 1998, YLH Motors was awarded by Naza Kia for Kia Motors 3S (Sales, Service & Spare Parts) dealership in Sarawak.
2000
In June 2000, YLH Motors has tied up with GESA Network Sdn Bhd for the 24 hours road side assistance in Sarawak. During the same year, the company was appointed by Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd as Sales Dealer in Kuching.
2002
In May 2002, YLH Motors was awarded by Hyundai-Berjaya Sdn Bhd 3S dealership in Kuching, Sarawak. In July 2002, through it’s sister company, Grand One Automobile Sdn Bhd, the company was appointed by USF-Hicom (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd as Mitsubishi 3S Dealer in Sarawak.
2003
In September 2003, through its sister company, Autocare Service Centre, the company was appointed as the Panel Workshop of PIAM.
2005
In year 2005, to heighten the image and branding of our KIA dealership, a whole new showroom was constructed and renovated on Lot 139, Section 56, KTLD, Jalan Mendu, Kuching. (The current YLH HQ).
The new showroom was completed in the same year and Yu Lee Hong Motors Sdn Bhd was relocated to the newly completed showroom. In November 2005, the Yu Lee Hong Group (YLH Group) was awarded another 3S Dealership by Naza Corporation Sdn Bhd through its sister company Grand One Automobile to sell Naza Bestari and Naza Sutera vehicles.
2007
For the year 2007 YLH Group also embarked on to building two more showrooms with the intention of expanding its core business of vehicle sales. The new showrooms are located in Kuching and Sibu respectively. With the addition of the two new showrooms it is looking forward to capture a better share of the car market with a view that AFTA (Asean Free Trade Agreement) will be implemented soon by the Malaysian Government.
2011
During the year 2011, a subsidiary of YLH Group, YLH Autoworld Sdn Bhd was granted the sole and exclusive dealership for Great Wall Motors (GWM) in Sarawak by Green Oranges Sales & Services Sdn Bhd. A new 3S showroom was thus being constructed and the vehicle Wingle 5 was jointly launched on 20.11.2011.
2014
In 08.08.2014, YLH Autoworld Sdn Bhd launched the All-New Compact SUV – M4 with a competitive price and has successfully garnered traction among SUV fans in the local market.
Also, with the launch of this model, the Great Wall brand (Now rebranded as “Haval”) managed to be a household name in the local market.
2016
In Year 2016, Yu Lee Hong Motors Sdn Bhd has been awarded the prestigious global “Platinum Award” that recognizes top performing dealers based on a variety of performance indicators, which only 3% of the global top performing dealers was awarded.
2017
The “Category Excellence Award”, which is only given to Dealers that complies with KIA’s global dealer standard has been awarded to Yu Lee Hong Motors Sdn Bhd in December 2017.
2023
In 2023, a brand new showroom image for GWM has been proudly presented to the public after months of extensive renovation at our Mendu Showroom. For the first time ever, we ventured into a whole new era of selling EV vehicles – mainly Ora Good Cat and more models to come in the future.
